According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) Chiropractic is "a health care profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disorders of the neuro-musculoskeletal system and the effects of these disorders on general health. There is an emphasis on manual techniques, including joint adjustment and/or manipulation with a particular focus on subluxations."
At Byron Bay Chiropractic Centre we aim to get a thorough understanding of your body as a whole. We have a variety of assessment protocols to identify underlying dysfunctions from physical and physiological stress and its impact on your health.
We work with you. Our priority is careful assessment and gentle correction of the spine and neuro-musculo-skeletal system to support healthy function.
Neuro Emotional Technique
Neuro Emotional Technique is a tool that can help to assess the impact of stress and emotions on your health. More specifically, it may help your brain process stress and emotions in a more efficient manner.
Stress is a big part of our modern lifestyle, and can impact our mind and bodies in different ways. Chiropractors can use N.E.T to identify memories and emotions that are impacting your health. The gentle correction protocol may give the brain a chance to process and relieve underlying associated patterns of stress.
N.E.T is not a psychological or counselling technique but rather looks to address changes in the body’s response to stress. If you feel like you may not be handling the stress in your life as effectively as you would like, or you’re aware that past events are impacting your health, book an appointment with us to see if N.E.T could help you.
Advanced Biostructural Correction™ is a full-body, manual protocol-based method of correcting and optimising the biomechanics of the human skeletal framework. Aimed at detecting and correcting biomechanical misalignments that the body cannot self-correct as there is no muscle (or combination of muscles) that can pull in the direction needed. When this occurs our body “twists”, or uses other muscles pulling in other directions, to compensate.
Over time, with many such misalignments and compensatory twists posture deteriorates and symptoms can develop. These symptoms cover the myriad of conditions seen daily in chiropractic practice. The importance of posture should not be underestimated. “Observation of the striking influence of postural mechanics on function and symptomatology have led to our hypothesis that posture affects and moderates every physiologic function from breathing to normal hormonal production. Spinal pain, headache, mood, blood pressure, pulse, and lung capacity are among the functions most easily influenced by posture.” –American Journal of Pain Management 1994, 4: 36-39
Chiropractic care, babies
Infancy and childhood is a time of rapid growth, changes and development. The birthing process itself can have an impact on the neuro-musculo-skeletal system of a baby. Many parents choose to bring their babies and children to a Chiropractor to assess their spinal health. As children are reaching milestones and trying new activities such as walking, climbing and riding a bike, assessing them throughout this time may be beneficial. It is important that the connections between the brain and body develop well.
Chiropractic assessment and treatment is tailored specifically to the body we are working with. Children are not just small adults, and consideration of their whole health picture is vital for high quality chiropractic care. In addition, chiropractic techniques are modified to the individual needs of the child.
We are committed to the careful assessment and gentle correction of your child’s spine and neuro-musculo-skeletal system to support their healthy development.
Chiropractic and Pregnancy
Pregnancy is a remarkable time of change, and growth. It’s also a period that can present it’s own unique challenges.
As the body changes to accommodate a growing baby, the mechanical and hormonal shifts that occur during pregnancy can lead to challenges. Pregnancy can particularly impact the low back, pelvis, and ligaments. Other symptoms may include back pain, indigestion, and sciatica.
Many women recognise pregnancy as a time to focus on natural health and avoid medication or other substances while baby is growing and developing. For this reason, many women may receive chiropractic care during pregnancy.
Chiropractors are skillful at assessing joint motion and function. Restoring balance to the musculoskeletal system may make pregnancy a more comfortable journey.
Gentle blocking procedures, and other Chiropractic techniques can be tailored to each stage of pregnancy to assist with healthy function throughout this time and to prepare the body for birthing.
We are experienced in the gentle care of women during all stages of pregnancy.
